The Pentateuch Preview

Enjoy this preview study provided by The Hill and Bob Warren!

Do you enjoy reading God’s word? Is it a thrill to sit at the Lord’s feet and have Him communicate truth to you?  When you open the Bible, do you understand where the Scripture you are reading fits into the timeline of the Old and New Testaments?  If your answer is “yes,” you are certainly in the minority.

Most believers are not equipped to study God’s word. Many start in Genesis and read as far into the Old Testament as possible—after all, we were taught in school to start at the beginning of a book and read from cover to cover.  However, this approach normally ends in disaster; Leviticus, the third book, may be the most challenging in the entire Bible. Just one mouthful of that section of Scripture will discourage ill-equipped readers, no matter their degree of determination.

The solution comes through understanding that the Bible is not a normal book—it is God’s word—and therefore, must be approached differently.  Although every word of every book is necessary, certain books must be studied first. The remaining books will come alive only with a working knowledge of the foundational books. Information must be stored properly and in order before it can become beneficial. This course strives to equip you to go to any section of the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Old Testament) and have an absolute blast, because you will know where the truth you are learning fits into the chronological order of events in the Old Testament.

Learning how the events in the Old Testament are related is a necessity.  As you study the Pentateuch, you will start to piece together the entire timeline of the Old Testament. Understanding the background of each of the five books of the Pentateuch is also important. This course will teach you all of that and more.

The purpose of learning this material is to know Jesus Christ as intimately as possible, and to walk in truth. Can you detect false doctrine when you hear it? Can you eat the digestible (truthful) parts of any message and discard the rest? It is possible to do so. But first you must learn to interpret Scripture from the context in which it was written, which you should be able to do much more efficiently after completing this study.

Give the course at least two to three weeks to prove itself. It takes that long to settle into a solid routine. Then, when you have completed this study, you’ll have the tools to enjoy the Pentateuch for the rest of your life. Only the Spirit of truth teaches truth, but we pray He will use this course as a tool through which to do His work.

Start at Week One, First Day, alone, or with a friend, or a group. Many times accountability causes one to accomplish more in a given period of time.  If you need more copies of the course, please get in touch.  Our address is The Hill, P.O. Box 13, Hardin, KY 42048, or [email protected].  We will get them to you as quickly as possible.  Since the courses support the ministry, we request that you not make copies.  Thanks.
