Unwittingly set ourselves up for great confusion and failure in our lives. We also find ourselves spending most of our time and energy focusing on things that don’t really matter.
We seem to exert all of our attention on being personally fulfilled and comfortable. What if Jesus thought that way when He walked this earth? What would our lives look like if that was the reflection of His heart?
When we cross paths with other people, how do we view them? Especially those who are living their lives without Jesus? Do we even care that they might spend an eternity without Jesus?
Jesus came to earth because His heart was broken for those that were “lost” and crawled on the cross to die a horrible death so all could have a way out. He was a rescuer. His desire was the Father’s desire ... “that they might be with Him” (John 17:24).
We are living in undefined times and there are more hopeless people than any of us could imagine. What is the answer? What is the way forward? What is it that will cause others to see “the rescuer” of their lives?
I believe it is a broken heart for what breaks God’s heart! When others see that our hearts are truly broken that they won’t spend an eternity with Jesus, they will listen to our stories of how HE has changed our lives.
His church and His followers are no longer relevant in our culture. Why? The culture doesn’t see that our hearts are actually broken for them. They see us focused only on ourselves. Our desires. Our agendas. Our own personal peace and prosperity.
What if we were more focused on God’s agenda? God’s desires? What if we became passionate about asking God to break our hearts for what breaks His?
This study is a tool to help you do just that. To understand why we should ask Him to break our hearts, along with practical ways and tools to assist you in the discovery. My prayer is that you will get to the other side of this study with an energized and refreshed view of God and his desires.
